Dragon Type Dual-Type Chart

This chart shows how much damage a Dragon-type move deals to every combination of two defending types. Rows are the first defender type and columns are the second. Each cell gives the damage multiplier: 4 is extremely effective (400%), 2 is super effective (200%), ½ is not very effective (50%), ¼ is highly resistant (25%) and 0 means no effect. Blank cells are normal 1× damage, and the gray diagonal marks a type paired with itself, which is not a valid dual type.

Dragon is the type of legends and pseudo-legendaries. Its moves have outstanding neutral coverage — only Steel resists them and only Fairy is immune — and it is weak to just three types, though those three are common enough to keep Dragon Pokémon in check.

Dragon on offense

Dragon-type moves are super effective only against other Dragon-types, but almost nothing resists them: only Steel does, while Fairy-types are immune. Moves such as Draco Meteor, Dragon Claw and Outrage therefore hit almost everything for solid damage, which is why Dragon coverage is so valuable.

Dragon on defense

Dragon-types are weak to Ice, Dragon and Fairy and resist Fire, Water, Electric and Grass. The Ice weakness is the most dangerous because Ice coverage is everywhere, while the Fairy immunity-to-Dragon interaction means Dragon attackers often have no answer to Fairy-types at all.

Famous Dragon-types include Dragonite, Salamence, Garchomp, Hydreigon, Rayquaza, Kyurem, Dragapult, Goodra and Baxcalibur. Most are high-stat Pokémon, and their secondary types usually decide whether they are physical, special or defensive.
