Poison Type Dual-Type Chart
This chart shows how much damage a Poison-type move deals to every combination of two defending types. Rows are the first defender type and columns are the second. Each cell gives the damage multiplier: 4 is extremely effective (400%), 2 is super effective (200%), ½ is not very effective (50%), ¼ is highly resistant (25%) and 0 means no effect. Blank cells are normal 1× damage, and the gray diagonal marks a type paired with itself, which is not a valid dual type.

Poison Type Summary
A defensive, status-driven type that Steel-types can ignore entirely.
Poison is largely a defensive and status type. Its attacks threaten Grass and Fairy, but Steel-types are immune and several common types resist it, so Poison rarely carries an offense on its own. Its real strength is wearing opponents down with poison and toxic damage.
Poison on offense
Poison-type moves are super effective against Grass and Fairy and are resisted by Poison, Ground, Rock and Ghost, while Steel-types take no damage at all. Moves like Sludge Bomb and Gunk Shot are used on coverage sets, but the type's signature value is the poison status itself, not raw damage.
Poison on defense
Poison-types are weak to Ground and Psychic and resist Grass, Fighting, Poison, Bug and Fairy. Many of them also absorb Toxic Spikes on entry and cannot be poisoned, which makes them excellent defensive pivots and hazard control on bulky teams.
Notable Poison-type Pokémon
Well-known Poison-types include Gengar, Weezing, Crobat, Toxapex, Nidoking, Scolipede, Salazzle, Eternatus and Glimmora. They appear as fast attackers, hazards setters and some of the most durable walls in the game.
