Electric Type Dual-Type Chart

This chart shows how much damage a Electric-type move deals to every combination of two defending types. Rows are the first defender type and columns are the second. Each cell gives the damage multiplier: 4 is extremely effective (400%), 2 is super effective (200%), ½ is not very effective (50%), ¼ is highly resistant (25%) and 0 means no effect. Blank cells are normal 1× damage, and the gray diagonal marks a type paired with itself, which is not a valid dual type.

Electric Type Summary

Fast, high-tempo offense that Ground-types shut down completely.

Electric is a fast, special-attacking type with a single weakness and a very useful immunity to being paralyzed. Its defining flaw is Ground: Ground-types are completely immune to Electric moves, so an Electric attacker always has to plan around them.

Electric on offense

Electric-type moves are super effective against Water and Flying and are resisted by Electric, Grass and Dragon, while Ground-types take no damage at all. Moves such as Thunderbolt, Volt Switch and Wild Charge are common, and Volt Switch in particular gives Electric-types a strong pivot option.

Electric on defense

Electric-types are weak only to Ground and resist Electric, Flying and Steel. Many of them also cannot be paralyzed, and they take neutral damage from most types, so an Electric Pokémon is usually only threatened by one specific move type — which makes it easy to support.

Notable Electric-type Pokémon

Famous Electric-types include Pikachu and Raichu, Jolteon, Zapdos, Magnezone, Electivire, Zekrom and Regieleki. Their high Speed and special power are their hallmark, and abilities such as Levitate or Motor Drive can erase the Ground weakness entirely.
