Fighting Type Dual-Type Chart

This chart shows how much damage a Fighting-type move deals to every combination of two defending types. Rows are the first defender type and columns are the second. Each cell gives the damage multiplier: 4 is extremely effective (400%), 2 is super effective (200%), ½ is not very effective (50%), ¼ is highly resistant (25%) and 0 means no effect. Blank cells are normal 1× damage, and the gray diagonal marks a type paired with itself, which is not a valid dual type.

Fighting Type Summary

The signature physical offense type, stopped only by Ghost and Fairy.

Fighting is the go-to physical attacking type. It hits five types hard — including Normal, Steel, Ice and Dark — and is held back only by Ghost-type immunity and a Fairy resistance. That broad coverage is why Fighting moves show up on so many physical attackers.

Fighting on offense

Fighting-type moves are super effective against Normal, Rock, Ice, Dark and Steel, and resisted by Poison, Flying, Psychic, Bug and Fairy. Ghost-types are completely immune. Moves such as Close Combat, Drain Punch and Mach Punch combine that coverage with high power or priority.

Fighting on defense

Fighting-types are weak to Flying, Psychic and Fairy and resist Rock, Bug and Dark. Their mixed stat spreads and access to priority and Drain Punch make them strong attackers, but the three weaknesses are common enough that Fighting-types rarely want to take hits.

Notable Fighting-type Pokémon

Famous Fighting-types include Machamp, Lucario, Conkeldurr, Hawlucha, Gallade, Great Tusk, Iron Hands and Keldeo. Their secondary types frequently patch the Psychic or Fairy weakness, and abilities like Justified turn incoming Dark moves into an advantage.
